Write the Vision and Make it Plain

Yep, it’s that time of year that everyone is making plans and resolutions.  If you know me, you already know that my plans for 2018 do not include the “new year, new me” mantra.  However, it is important that I review and renew my vision.  Doing so will ensure that I align my benchmarks and behavior towards my purpose and dreams.  I’d have to say that one of my favorite G-Boss Mavens, Tierany, defines vision the best way saying,

“Vision is the oxygen to your dreams–giving them life and experiences to reach your endgame.”

That’s such an easily digestible way to put such a massive component to our success. Then adding the fact that success is relative to who you are and what you define it to be is such a freeing way to approach the planning + doing that comes with it.

I attended  Tierany’s Vision Board Party with some amazing Boss Babes this past weekend.  Oftentimes, people think the whole Vision Board concept is farfetched and a pretty picture of things that you’re hoping and wishing for.  I know, in past years, I have been at least guilty of over thinking and over processing the whole idea.

However, the truth of the matter is that it more aligns with faith.

In the gathering, I learned some valuable points that align well with my idea of boundless living.

First, we need to honestly recognize that WE DEFINE SUCCESS—not anyone else.  My idea may be different from yours and what gives my life meaning and value is what matters most. The first step in that is to write the vision and make it plain.  That’s your first building block–your faith.  Your Vision Board is a visual tool to accompany that faith. Like a road map, it is to remind you of where you’re going.  Keep it simple.  Don’t think too hard.

Secondly, dreams and goals that are “too big and scary” are the BEST dreams to have.  They are the ones you have to work towards– to put your heart into.  It’s going to be uncomfortable and that’s ok. Do it scared!  What is important is that we present the best versions of ourselves for ourselves and our community. If you’re gonna succeed, you may as well get comfortable being uncomfortable!

Lastly, we must give ourselves permission to win! Yep, to win all the things! To be the best! To stand out! And to do something we’ve never done before! There are a lot of times that we get into our own way.  I know I am guilty of that! We let fear win.  We second guess ourselves and quit before we even give it our best shot.  No more! No more shrinking back and running away.  I’m running whole heartedly towards my dreams, allowing myself the opportunity to grow, learn, and succeed.  I love how award-winning actress, Viola Davis puts it,

“All dreams are within reach.  All you have to do is keep moving towards them.”

In essence, the greater makeup of “success” is choices.  I’m choosing to live without parameters, and even scared and trembling, live out my best life. Once you give yourself permission to succeed, every dream is attainable.
